Sarah and Giles are both photographers, and met when Sarah (a Kiwi) brought some photos in for developing at the lab in England where Giles worked. She was a little surprised to hear him say her prints wouldn’t be ready to collect until Wednesday (which was the next day that he’d be working)! They now live in the UK but returned to New Zealand for their wedding.
They were married last Saturday on one of the rainiest days we’ve had in a long time! Old St Paul’s in Thorndon is a beautiful church anyway but on Saturday it felt like such a lovely haven from the weather outside, with all that warm-coloured wood and the rich red carpets.

I took this first series of shots while I was sitting in my car outside waiting for the previous wedding to finish!

After the ceremony we went to the Botanic Gardens, as Sarah liked the idea of lush green backgrounds for the photos. We brought the cars right in and did a quick dash for the shelter of the soundshell so that we could shoot looking out over the gardens but stay dry.

By the time it was getting dark the rain had eased to a light drizzle so we took a few quick shots on the pathway, including some using the car headlights, before heading to meet up with the guests at the White House restaurant. Mark and I took a few shots of the tables and the cake and then left the newlyweds to enjoy their evening.
